Management Committees

An Industry Management Committee is made up of nominees from the Community of Expert Practice (CEP). This committee represents practitioners, it can be used to convene and manage the processes in line with QCTO regulations.  The committee is therefore responsible for setting up and maintaining a database of practitioners who are willing to contribute to the delivery of the outputs.
Practitioners captured in the database must be knowledgeable about current practices of their respective occupations. In addition, the experts may be members of standards-generating bodies. Participation in these structures is not based on levy payments; therefore committee members can be linked to various SETAs. This system facilitates the breaking down of silos, and the SSETA, as a Quality Development Partner to the QCTO supports this process completely.
To ensure appropriate representation in this structure, the key question to ask is:
Are all the stakeholders with an interest in this occupation represented?
The Stakeholders include:

  • Professional bodies
  • Major employers
  • Unions
  • Industry bodies
  • Statutory bodies
  • International bodies
  • Identification of:
    • Practitioners to assist with the occupational profile
    • Occupational trainers to assist with practical skills
    • Providers to assist with knowledge and theory
    • Assessors to assist with the Assessment Specifications
