Unit Standard Training

Labour Recruitment is one of the fastest growing industries in South Africa, and the members falling under this sector emphasize on the recruitment of staff, both permanent and temporary.  The Chamber aims at uplifting and professionalzing this industry by means of skills development and training, as well as to facilitate international reciprocation of our qualifications and programmes.

One of the projects currently being implemented in order to improve the skills and knowledge within this industry is the training of 300 Labour Recruitment employees on the following unit standards:

Conduct a disciplinary Hearing (unit std id 10985)
Institute disciplinary action (unit standard id 11286)
Demonstrate an understanding of contracts and their sources (unit standard id 13995)
Demonstrate an understanding of employment relations in an organization (unit standard id 10170)
Monitor and advise on substantive conditions of employment and related rights and obligations in an organization (unit standard id 11909)
Recruit and select candidates to fill defined positions (unit standard id10978)
Demonstrate an understanding of employment relations in an organization (unit standard id 10170)
Demonstrate Effective self management skills

The training is currently being conducted in the following regions:

  • Gauteng,
  • Western Cape
  • KZN
  • East London
  • Free State
  • Mpumalanga
  • Port Elizabeth. 

Global Business Solutions has been appointed as the training provider.  To date the Chamber has trained a total of 193 Labour Recruitment employees in all regions excluding the Western Cape and the final group of Gauteng, which are scheduled to take place by the end of this month. 

The delegates are required to compile a Portfolio of Evidence as part of the assessment and certification process.

Embedded Knowledge Project

The Embedded Knowledge Project would be launched in July 2008, whereby the Services SETA is subsidizing an exam for 1000 delegates, which are made of 500 APSO members and 500 non-APSO members.
