Overview

The SETQAA QALA Division is primarily focusing on quality assurance of learner achievements for all Training and Development interventions leading to achievement of credits against NQF registered unit standards and or qualifications, which the Services SETA ETQA has been awarded quality assurance status over by the South African Qualifications Authority.

This is in line with the mandate given to all ETQA’s by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) in the ETQA Regulations R1127 under SAQA Act no 58 of 1995. The Regulation states that…” the ETQA shall be responsible for promoting quality amongst constituent providers, monitoring provision by constituent providers, evaluate assessment and facilitation of moderation amongst constituent providers, take responsibility for certification of  constituent learners…………..”

The quality assurance process involves approval of learner enrolments, tracking of learner achievements for the enrolled learners, quality assurance of internal moderation reports, conducting site visits for the purpose of supporting and guiding providers participating on Services SETA funded Learnerships, conducting External Moderation and conducting Final Summative Assessment for qualifications pegged at NQF 4 and above. All these activities lead to certification of competent learners either at band level (120 credits or more) and or unit standards/skills programme level.

SETQAA has appointed Certification Partners who are ETD Practioners and experts in their respective industries to co-ordinate these activities. Providers are required to engage directly with SETQAA who will in turn communicate with the relevant Certification Partners.

Our department is equipped with qualified staff who are fully committed to Skills Development in South Africa and who consistently strive to offer all stakeholders premium, efficient and professional customer service at all times. The staff will offer  correct and accurate advice, guidance and support to all Providers, ETD Practitioners, Employers and other relevant stakeholders on any assessment, moderation, RPL related queries. Further to this, the Services SETA ETQA offers support and guidance to the stakeholders through Accredited Provider Forums, Assessor and Moderator Forums etc and these are held on a quarterly basis. For further information on these forums contact your Regional ETQA Officer.

We assure you of our commitment to quality in Skills Development and providing you with the accurate and relevant information at all times.
