Learning / Curriculum
-Potential project: Analyse an existing business and determine the way it functions.
-Theory on organisational structures and types of organisations must be covered.
-Learners should be encouraged to compare and analyse the strengths in various structures
-Various ways work is organised should be covered, including the differences between traditional hierarchy, projects, teams, matrixed organisations etc.
Performance systems
-This unit standard is not useful around performance management at a junior level.
-At a more senior level, the employee would be expected to introduce work systems that contribute toward the effectiveness of the organisation. |

Specific Outcomes:
Describe typical ways that the departments depend on each other.
Explain the reasons why organisations are changing their structures and reducing the number of reporting levels.
Describe the difference between the actual departments in the selected business and typical departments found in "the average business" and explain reasons for the differences.
